DESIGN FOR A MECHANICAL PENCIL Trace Christensen, Jr., Evanston, 111., assignor to Autopoint Company, Chicago, 111., a corporation of Illinois Application November 26, 1940, Serial No. 96,836
Term of patent '7 years To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Trace Christenson, Jr., a
citizen of the United States, residing at Evanston,
in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Mechanical Pencil, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part thereof.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is an enlarged side elevation of a mechanical pencil showing my new design and looking directly toward the clip side of the pencil.
Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1 but showing the pencil rotated on its longitudinal axis through an angle of 90.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged plan view looking toward the top end of the pencil.
Fig. 4 is a still further enlarged fragmentary development of a portion of the side face of the ferrule adjacent the top of the pencil.
Fig. 5 is an enlarged fragmentary section on the line 5-5 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 6 is a View similar to Fig. 4 but of a portion of the grooved face of the tip member.
Fig. 7 is an enlarged fragmentary section on the line 'l-l of Fig. 2.
Fig. 8 is an enlarged fragmentary section on the line 8-8 of Fig. 2.
The tip member above the nose end thereof is formed with longitudinally extending thin grooves. Similar grooves are also provided in the cylindrical portion adjacent the top of the pencil, above which cylindrical portion is a metallic band having around its circumference a number of openings or panels.
I claim:
The ornamental design for a mechanical pencil, substantially as shown and described.
