384,344. Centrifugal pumps. OBERASCHER, F. and SCHREINER, F., (trading as OBERASCHER & CO., GLOCKENUND METALLGIESSEREI, FEUERLOSCHGERATEFRABRIK SALZBURG, F.), 31, Linzerstrasse, Salzburg, Austria. June 12, 1931, No. 17183. Convention date, June 13, 1930. [Class 110 (i).] Centrifugal and other pumps, particularly those of fire extinguishing motor cars, are exhausted by using as a compressor one or more of the cylinders of the internal-combustion engine which drives the pump. An ejector of the type described in Specification 293,011; [Class 110 (i), Centrifugal and screw fans &c.], is associated with the compressor to assist in the operation. In the example shown the cylinder 3 which acts as the compressor has its exhaust opening 19 closed by the throttle 20, and its ignition stopped by a short circuit contact 25. A pressure pipe leads from the head of the cylinder 3 to an ejector connected to the suction side of the pump. The cylinder compressor 3 is operated by the remaining cylinders, compresses the normal mixture or air alone, and supplies the compressed gas to the ejector to withdraw gas from the centrifugal pump 1.
