Abstract
382,415. Buckle fastenings. WALKER, Ltd., T., WALKER, G. T., and WOOD, H. H., Birmingham Buckle Works, St. Paul's Square, Birmingham. Oct. 20, 1931, No. 29072. [Class 43.] A buckle such as for brace or suspender webbing comprises a frame 1 on opposite sides whereof are mounted a pair of opposed angularly movable gripping members, and one end of a band or webbing 5 is adapted to be secured to one gripping member so that in use when the main length of the webbing is passed through the frame between the members they co-operate to grip the webbing between them. The frame 1 is formed of wire having inturned ends 1a about which a metal plate is bent to form separated sides 2, 3. The webbing is adapted to be swedged between the sides 2, 3, the side 2 being toothed if required. The side 3 is longer than the other and serves as a gripping member. Lugs 4 bent out of the plate embrace the wire ends 1a to form a hinge connection. Pivotal movement may be limited as by the edges of the side 3 and by stops on the side 2 or by stops on the frame. A metal plate is bent to form a gripping member 7 and a lever plate 6 and is hingedly secured to the frame by lugs 8. Teeth may be provided on the gripping members. In fastening, the gripping member 7 is adapted to move past a dead-centre position so as to prevent slipping from the fastened position.
