Abstract
381,487. Globes for street &c. lamps. BLOHM, O., 2, Theresienstieg, Hamburg, Germany. March 31, 1932, No. 9217. [Class 75 (ii).] In a lamp having a maximum radiation in a horizontal direction so as to provide uniform illumination of a street or the like, part or the whole of the surface of the globe is disposed substantially vertically, a zone C at about the level of the light source is left clear or made only very slightly diffusing, and the remainder D of the globe is made of opal or enamel glass, or like strongly diffusing material which refracts the majority of the light horizontally. The clear or only slightly diffusing zone may extend completely or partly around the globe, it may be sharply demarcated from, or merge gradually into, the strongly diffusing portions, and it may be arranged above, below, or, as shown in the Figure, between the strongly diffusing portions.
