Abstract
381,184. Conditioning grain. SIMON, Ltd., H. and LEDGER, C., Cheadle Heath, Cheshire. June 25, 1931, No. 18368. [Class 58.] Radiators for grain drying, conditioning, or like machines are built up from a number of sections each of which is wedge-shaped at its upper and lower ends to facilitate the downward flow of grain and is formed of parts welded together, which sections are interconnected by passages welded thereto at the sides thereof so as not to interfere with the grain flow. The sections A of the radiator comprise sheet steel pressings a, b welded together at their edges, Figs. 4 and 6, or to a perforated plate o, Fig. 10, the sections being stiffened as shown. Each section has diagonally opposed, triangular, cut-away portions for inlet and outlet of heating fluid, strips c of V-shape and flat strips d being welded to adjacent sides of the sections to provide passages for the heating fluid. Extending half-way through the radiator are plates g, g<1> welded to the plates d dividing the passages for the heating fluid, whereby part of the latter may be introduced to and part withdrawn from the radiator, at its middle.
