[Class 131.] Apparatus for use in hair waving comprises a series of tubes 1 into which the hair curlers are inserted, steam or steam and another vapour being passed through the tubes in series in direct contact with the hair. The tubes 1 are provided with steam inlets la and outlets 1b and are connected together in series by flexible conduits 2, the inlet of the first tube being connected, by a flexible conduit 4 to a steam generator 3 heated electrically or othetwise, and the outlet of the last tube being connected by a flexible conduit 5 to the inlet 6a of a condenser 6. The inlet 6a or the conduit 5 may be provided with a cock or valve 7. The tubes 1 are provided near the lower end with an internal bead or shoulder to prevent the hair from contacting with the inner ends of the steam inlet and outlet tubes. Sleeves 9 of flexible rubber are provided at the bottom of the tubes 1 and are secured steamtight to the roots of the tresses by string or the like. The tubes 1 may be large enough to contain more than one curler. The hair. may be wound helically on the curler, or may be wound spirally in superposed layers, in which case the curlers are provided with a waist in order that ‹ the tress, when wound, may not project unduly from the curler.
