Abstract
379,652. Heat exchangers ; steam superheaters. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd., Babcock House, Farringdon Street, London.-(Assignees of Kooistra, L. ; 5, Kelly Parkway, Bayonne, New Jersey, U.S.A.) April 20, 1932, No. 11287. Convention date, April 23, 1931. [Classes 64 (iii) and 123 (iii).] Steam superheaters or like heat transfer apparatus comprise a bank of tubes arranged in a number of vertical rows having metal members secured between adjacent tubes in the same row along a diagonal line through the bank to form with the metal of adjacent tubes a truss support which prevents bending in a vertical direction. A superheater for a water-tube boiler comprises a number of tubes 15 arranged in vertical rows extending across a gas flue 16 in a number of return bends with metallic members 30 arranged in staggered relation between vertically adjacent tubes and similar members 31 between the tubes of the upper and lower lateral rows, dividing the bank into blocks. Members 27, 28, secured to the tube bends at one end extend through a support 20 and hook members 36 secured to the uppermost tube bends at the other end engage with members 35 bolted to uptake nipples 9 of the boiler.
