379,439. Fumigation. AIR-WAY ELECTRIC APPLIANCE CORPORATION, 2101, Auburn Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, U.S.A. June 20, 1931, No. 17933. Convention date, May 13. [Class 81 (i).] Insects are exterminated from furniture or other articles by drawing an open-mouthed self-sustaining receptacle over the article so as to engage the surface whereon it rests, and then projecting a comminuted lethal material such as paradichlorobenzene into said receptacle by means of a rotary fan. The apparatus used for injecting the fumigant may be that described in Specification 335,672, [Class 8 (i), Air and gases, Compressing &c.]. The receptacle 10 may consist of paper of sufficient flexibility to be collapsed for storage but rigid enough to be self sustaining in use ; it is provided with lateral extensions 18 around its mouth, whereby it may be held closely against the floor or other supporting surface by means of weights B or otherwise, and with slits or openings 11 for the introduction of the nozzle N of the fumigant injecting means. The slits may be closed after withdrawal of the nozzle by means of external flaps 12 secured by adhesive, or buttons, or by means of internal self-closing flaps which may be provided with strips of felt to ensure a close joint. A separate sheet of paper may be placed under the article to be treated and be adapted to engage the lateral extensions 18 by being folded thereover and secured by fasteners or staples or by adhesive.
