Abstract
377,218. Discharge lamps. CLAUDELUMIRE SOC. ANON. POUR LES APPLICATIONS DES GAZ RARES LA LUMIERE PROCDS G. CLAUDE, 3, Avenue de l' Opera, Paris. March 17, 1931, No. 8116. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1930. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i).] An arc discharge lamp emitting a white light contains a mixture of helium and neon, in which the proportion of neon to helium is in the ratio of between 1 : 1000 and 200 : 1000 according to the pressure, the diameter of the column, and the intensity of the current, the pressure being between 0À05 and 3 mms. Curves are given showing (a) the variation of consumption with gas pressure for tubes of different diameters ; the current being constant and (b) variations of voltage with gas pressure for tubes of different diameters. The pressure of the mixture preferably corresponds with the minimum consumption and feed voltage. The electrodes and internal walls are charged with occluded gas to an extent which may reach saturation. Specification 318,198, [Class 39 (i), Electric lamps, Arc &c.], is referred to.
