Abstract

376,566. Cigarette-maldng machines. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(American Machine & Foundry Co. ; 611, 5th Avenue, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 5, 1931, No. 27593. [Class 130.] To obtain a uniform layer of tobacco on a feeding-drum 6, a plurality of heavy rings 21 are loosely supported on a shaft 10 and are independently movable by gravity towards the drum. The rings are separated by discs 20 and may be provided with internal teeth 22 which mesh with teeth 19 on the shaft 10, which is supported by pivoted arms and is rotated by a belt 16. Revolving rakes 25 prevent tobacco from reaching the drum over the tops of the rings. The teeth 22, 19 may be omitted, the rings 21 being rotated by the movement of the tobacco caused by the rotation of the drum 6.
