Abstract

375,151. Supplying fuel by direct injection. BISCHOF, B., 16, Tobelstrasse, Waldheim, Winterthur, Switzerland. Sept. 25, 1931, No. 26764. Convention date, Oct. 8, 1930. [Class 7 (iii).] In an internal-combustion engine fuelinjection pump of the type in which the fuel is compressed between the plunger 2 and an accumulator piston 3, the plunger is formed with an oblique face 19, which controls the suction port 8, and the charge is regulated by rotating the plunger by means of a rack 10 engaging teeth on the crosshead 11. The discharge to the engine cylinder takes place through a passage 15 and a groove 9 in the plunger, in succession and at different pressures through passages 5, 5<1>. The accumulator spring 13 acts on the plunger 3 by means of a cap 16 surrounding the cylinder. The bore for t he plunger 3 is of greater diameter than that for the plunger 2 and a recess 17 is formed between the bores. The plunger 2 is operated by a cam shaped to give a rapid discharge and a s ow suction stroke and ac on the plunger through a bell-crank lever 6 and a connecting- rod 7.
