Abstract
Fibrous plastic compositions.-A composition for brake blocks &c. consists of asbestos with relatively small additions of talc and graphite, and a binding-agent consisting of vegetable pitch, petroleum asphalt, linseed oil, and China wood oil. Manganese dioxide, litharge, and sulphur may also be added. Preferred proportions by weight are 56 parts of asbestos, 4 of talc, 2 of graphite, 16 of vegetable pitch, 8 of petroleum asphalt, 4 of linseed oil, 4 of China wood oil, 1 of manganese dioxide, 2 of litharge, and 2 of sulphur. The composition is baked after moulding.
