[Class 142 (ii).] A grooved cylindrical cam for operating the picking rods or bars of a shuttleless loom has its working surfaces detachably mounted on the central part 1, Fig. 3. The working parts 2 are formed in separate parts or as sleeves and are bolted to the part 1, the end parts being held adjustably by screwed rings 9. The cam operates bowls provided with ball or roller bearings mounted at 14, Fig. 1, on levers 13 pivoted to a fixed bar 11. In some cases, the bowl is carried in a slide 16, Fig. 4, guided in a box 15 swinging with the lay, and is adjustably connected to a lever guided at its upper end and having its lower end pivoted to an adjustable link pivoted at 20 to the lay. In another form, the cam 21, Fig. 6, adjustable on its shaft, operates a bowl on the end of a rod 23 adjustably mounted on a pivot 26, which is itself adjustable in the plane X, Y to suit the width of fabric being woven. In a modification, the rod has its lower end pivoted to the lay, and carries a bowl for engagement with the cam intermediate of its ends, the upper end of the rod being adjustably secured to the picking-bar operating mechanism.
