Abstract
373,495. Valve-discharge water-wastepreventers. STICKDORN, R., 14, Perhamerstrasse, Munich, Germany. Aug. 18, 1931, No. 23222. [Class 26.] In apparatus of the type in which two cisterns fill and empty alternately under control of a reversing cock, the plug 15 is maintained against the cock-casing 16 by the pressure of the supply, which communicates, by an annular passage 21, with the underside of a piston 20 disposed above, and of larger diameter than, the thin end of the plug. The cisterns are constituted by cylinders 3 clamped by bolts 6 between members 1, 2 ; the member 2 has a bush 11 accommodating the head 13 of a handle 12, to which is secured a tubular member 14, a prismatic extension 14a of which engages an aperture 15a in the plug. A flat passage 22 in the plug surface may connect either of two passages 18 in the casing with the passage 21 in order to fill one cistern, whilst a diametrically-opposed aperture 17 in the hollow lower portion 15b of the plug permits discharge of the corresponding cistern, a preferably conical coupling-spigot 28 being screwed on to the outlet by a cap 27. The piston 20 is disposed within a tubular extension 23 of the plug which is closed by a cover 24, an aperture 29 in the member 14 serving for the escape of leakage. The member 14 is provided with a further aperture 30 for ventilating purposes, and its rotation is limited by the provision of a screw 32a on the bush 11 extending into a peripheral slot 31 in the head 13. A cover plate between the cisterns renders the cock casing &c. inaccessible. It is stated that the water is discharged with a spiral vortex movement which may be varied by modifying the taper of the spigot 28.
