Abstract
372,995. Drum and rocking-bar controllers. TURNER, Ltd., S. and PLINT, A. F., 43, Market Place, Henley-on-Thames. June 30, 1931, No. 18910. [Class 38 (iii).] Comprises a starting circuit for a selfcontained supply apparatus ; actuation of a switch in the load circuit causes current to flow from a low voltage battery to the starting motor through a power-operated controller drum which is actuated to connect up the various circuits in proper sequence, operation of the drum being initiated by a relay temporarily connected to the battery. The drum comprises an insulating cylinder on which are mounted a number of metal segments with which engage contact fingers. A cam 20 mounted on drum and engaged by a spring- pressed roller 21 is formed so that quick make and break of circuits is effected. To allow the drum to rotate under the action of the spring- pressed roller a floating drive consisting of engaging pins 18, 19 is used. In a modification the circuits may be completed in the desired sequence by switches operated by cams mounted on the drum.
