372,704. Lathe and like tools. JEANGER, E., Uster, Switzerland. Dec. 14, 1931, No. 34544. [Class 83 (iii).] Tool-holders.-A cutting tool for lathes, planing machines and the like, of the type comprising a bit adjustable transversely in the end of a bar by means of a worm, has a serrated clamping plate which relieves the worm of load during cutting. The bit 3, which is inclined to the bar axis, is adjustable by means of the worm 5 and is maintained in a dovetail slot 2 by a clamping plate 8 ; serrations 14 on the plate engage similar serrations 15 on the side of the bit and serve to take the downward thrust during cutting. Two clamping plates may be used, the upper one being serrated while the lower one is made plain.
