Abstract
371,839. Concrete and like reinforcements. JOHNSON, H. C., Longbridge Works, Northfield, Birmingham. Jan. 27, 1931, No. 2590. [Class 20 (iv).] In reinforced concrete and like constructions a combined clip and support for crossed bars is used to space them from shuttering or other surface and consists of a member having a crutch d for the lower bar h, two arms b bent over the upper bar g, and a foot m with the end c upturned to form a second support for the lower bar. The clip may be formed of sheet metal with stiffening ribs f, or from wire. Flat or round pieces may be fastened together by welding or otherwise. A modification of double U-form is shown in Figs. 3 and 4. Projecting arms B are bent over to form limbs C and stiffening ribs D stamped in the body part. For vertical construction in walls and columns, a tightening strip may be driven between the upper bar and the limbs C. The clip may be made in multipleform and varied in shape.
