Abstract
371,726. Rope railways; stations; piling earth. WHITE, J. W. and VALBERG, C. O., Railway Engineering Works, Widnes, Lancashire. Aug. 17, 1931, No. 23103. [Classes 78 (iv) and 104 (ii).] An overhead ropeway conveyer for tipping earth over an extended area comprises a main run of supporting cable B, D or 3, 4, and a branch run J, H or 5, 6 at an angle to the main run, the points J, H being movable in a direction parallel to the cable B, D. The junction J may be supported by a carriage running on ground rails, and the cable J, H may be supported between its ends by frames 16, 17 on similar carriages. Guide rails 15 in the junction J connect the main to the branch cables. The haulage rope may proceed from the terminal station to the junction J, thence to the station H, and then back to J and the terminal station. In another form, the haulage rope runs from the terminal station through a T-junction to the station H, then back to the junction, then to the station D, and back to the terminal station through the T-junction.
