Abstract
371,498. Bottling. BLAXTER, A. P. and BLAXTER, A. P. L., (trading as BARNETT & FOSTER), and RAYMOND, C. W., Niagara Works, Eagle Wharf Road, London. Feb. 3, 1931, No. 3465. [Class 125 (ii).] Relates to filling- machines for bottles of the " open-snift " or open-vent type. In order to ensure filling bottles to a uniform height, a snifting tube 3 is employed communicating with the outlet 6, and this tube is arranged to remain in the bottle after the liquid supply valve is closed, and to draw off the surplus liquid from the overfilled b o t t l e . The tubes are arranged to move axially within the filling heads and means such as a spiral 19 may be provided in the head to deliver the liquid gently down the inside of the bottle. The invention may be employed in a rotary machine. Specification 5889/10, [Class 125 (ii), Bottles &c., Filling &c.], is referred to.
