Abstract
368,551. Skein - holders. STAUFFENEGGER, R. C., 13, Spl³genstrasse, St. Gallen, Switzerland. April 2, 1931, No. 10091. [Class 120 (ii).] An adjustable reel or yarn carrier comprising double-armed carriers slidable on spring-like guide saddles mounted on bosses employs the spring of the saddles to keep the bosses in selectively adjusted relationship. Secured on a spindle 5 are bosses 1, 3 which alternate with bosses 2, 4 rotatably mounted thereon but preventing from rotating relatively to one another by guide saddles 6 of spring wire. The two ends of each saddle are inserted in radial holes 16, in the bosses 2, 4 respectively, to a distance determined by stepped portions 17 which rest in axial grooves 15 in the bosses. Spring tensioning rings 19 in circumferential grooves 18 lock the ends in the holes 16 but permit removal for packing &c. The boss 3 carries similarly mounted drivers 10 each having at its outer end a hinge member 11 engaged by the inwardly directed ends 14 of a doublearmed carrier 12 for the yarn. A space 7 between the bosses 3, 4 is normally maintained by the resilience of the guide saddles 6 which press a toothed ring 8 on the boss 4 into engagement with a toothed ring 9 secured to the spindle 5. The teeth are directed to one side so that the effective diameter of the reel may be increased by merely rotating the bosses 2, 4 to bring the guide saddles 6 nearer their respective drivers 10 but to reduce the diameter, the saddle guides 6 must be pressed inwards before rotating the bosses.
