[Class 40 (v).] At a relaying station for ultra-short-wave signalling, the receiver is connected to the retransmitter through a non-resonant amplifier which permits the simultaneous passage of a band of frequencies. A number of amplifiers may be employed slightly mistuned relativelyto one another, or the amplifiers may be rendered aperiodic or nearly so by the use of resistance or choke coupling. When the relay station is at sea, it may be supported on a platform 1 with hollow depending tubes 5 connected to hollow floats 6. The receiving and transmitting aerials may be in the form of dipoles associated with reflectors 3, 4. The amplifier 2 is so placed between them that back-coupling may be avoided by the screening effect of the reflectors. A number of pairs of dipoles, each with its own amplifier and each tuned to a different frequency, may be employed.
