Abstract
366,275. Connecting branches to mains. SPENCER, Ltd., J. and SPENCER, SIR T. H., Globe Tube & Engineering Works, Wednesbury, Staffordshire. Jan. 28, 1931, No. 2716. [Class 99 (i).] A branch pipe a has its end formed as a sleeve b which is slipped over the main c so as to register with the opening d, and is secured to the main by welding at e, f. The sleeve may be cylindrical or may be cut away as shown and strengthened by a central rib h. The sleeve may be divided at a point remote from the branch, the ends being welded together after they have been closed round the main. In connecting branches at opposite sides of the main a union r, Fig. 10, is used, and the openings in the main have flanges t which are welded to the union at u.
