Abstract
363,869. Smallarm magazines. FROMMER, R. VON, 158, Soroksari Ut, Budapest. Jan. 27, 1931, No. 2640. [Class 119.] A cartridge magazine of the kind containing two vertical rows of cartridges is provided with two manually movable lips which are normally separated by a distance greater than the largest diameter of a cartridge. By this arrangement the cartridges may be inserted into the magazine without moving the lips, but by retracting the lips the cartridges will be ejected by the magazine spring and the magazine emptied. According to one construction, the lips 6, Figs. 2 and 4, are formed on levers 7 which are pivotally mounted, scissorswise, on a pin 8. The lips are normally in position to retain the cartridges 5 within the magazine 1 by a spring 9. The lower ends of the levers are separated to open the lips by the wedge-shaped nose 11 of a pushbutton 10. In a modification, the lower end of each lever is to the same side of the pin 8 vertically as the lip which it operates. In this case, the lower ends of the levers are moved together to separate the lips by a V-shaped slot in the pushbutton. In another modification, Fig. 11, the levers are arranged on separate pins 12 and have arms 15 which engage the wedge-shaped ends 17 of a vertically moving slide 16. The slide is moved by the arm 19 of a two-armed pivoted lever, the other arm of which carries the pushbutton. In another arrangement, the slide may be dispensed with and the lower ends of the levers are formed with pushbuttons which protrude through lateral openings in the gun. In a further modification, the ends 17 of the slide engage the lateral surfaces of the arms 15 so that a downward movement of the slide effects the opening of the lips. In a still further modification, Figs. 15 and 17, the levers are moved by the wedge-shaped ends 17 of a horizontal slide 16. Extensions 26 on the slide are formed with upturned portions 25 which normally engage with the lower ends of the levers to, prevent them from moving. Disengagement of this locking means is effected when the slide is moved. In another modification, the extensions 26 are dispensed with.
