[Class 6 (i).] In a modification of the tilling machine described in the parent Specification, comprising tillers rotary about vertical axes and laterally movable plough-like ridgers or spreaders, the ridgers are attached to a transverse trailing frame swingingly attached to the tilling- machine frame so as to have floating transverse movement, and means extending to near the driver's seat are provided for lateral adjustment of the trailing frame. This frame 5 is pivotally connected by horizontal bolts 23, 24 to forkpieces 19, 20 which are pivotally connected by vertical bolts 17, 18 to arms 15, 16 projecting from vertical shafts 10, 11. Worm wheels 13, 14 on the shafts 10, 11 engage with worms on a transverse shaft 29 connected by bevel gearing 32 with a shaft 33 carrying a handle 34 which is within the driver's reach when the tilling and ridging implements are raised. A pivoted and slotted bar 26 engages loosely in an eye 27 on the frame 5. The ridging implements 21, 22 may be attached to the side members of the frame 5 or to members 35, 36 adjustably fixed in the frame. The frames 1, 5 carrying the tilling tools and the ridging implements may be lifted clear of the ground by means of sectors 38, 39 and chains 40, 41, 44, 45. In a modified construction the floating frame 5 is connected by parallel links &c. to the frame carrying the tilling tools and is movable laterally by means of chains or links connected to an arm on a single shaft connected by worm gearing to a shaft carrying an operating handle.
