[Class 112.] Attaching eyeleted tapes.- In sewing - machines for attaching hook or eye tapes to garments and the like a lever e mounted on the machine frame is rocked about its pivot by the reciprocation of the needle carrier b to cause a finger h carried at its lower end to engage and temporarily to displace a hook, eye or the like which may be in the path of the needle as it descends to make a stitch. The finger h may be pivoted to the lever e and its free end is held to the work at one side of the needle path by a light spring k. A light spring g maintains an adjustable abutment stud f carried by the lever e in contact with the needle carrier b. The device may be provided as an attachment to a two-needle machine wherein the needle carrier reciprocates laterally synchronously with the work feed movement, or to a machine wherein the needle carrier operates in a vertical direction only. In this latter case, the rocking movement of the lever may be effected by the engagement of a collar or arm on the needle bar with an inclined or cam surface on the lever, or vice-versa.
