Abstract

Artificial silk and other textile threads are sized with resinates of aminoalcohols in aqueous emulsions or in solution in a volatile solvent. The sizes may also contain oleic or stearic acid, glycerine, gums or waxes. In an example, a size is prepared from colophony, oleic acid, stearine, and commercial triethanolamine. Cloths made from artificial silks treated with such sizes are readily desized by immersion in a warm soap solution.ALSO:Sizes for artificial silk and other textile threads comprise resinates of aminoalcohols in aqueous emulsion or in solution in a volatile solvent. The sizes may also contain oleic or stearic acid, glycerine, gums, or waxes. In an example a size is prepared from colophony, oleic acid, stearine, and commercial triethanolamine.
