[Class 56.] Production of metal.-Relates to the manufacture of colourless or "white" soda-lime glass, and consists in using batch materials which contain ferric oxide and ferrous oxide in such proportions that the finished glass contains equal parts by weight of each of the oxides. For this purpose, part of the white sand used in the batch is replaced by common red or brown sand, but any other suitable material containing ferric oxide may be used. Examples of suitable batches are given in the Specification.
