Abstract
362,765. Seals for refrigerator compressers. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. Feb. 10, 1931, No. 4133. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1930. [Class 122 (v).] In refrigerating apparatus of the type wherein a compcesser 1 and driving motor 2 are enclosed in a casing 3 containing the refrigerant vapour, contamination of the vapour by oil vapour leaking from the bearing space 4 is prevented by forming the seals 5 with chambers 7, 8 connected respectively to an intermediate stage of the compresser and an oil separator 10. Oil leakage is entrained by the vapour from the chamber 7 and passes through the pipe 9 to the separator 10, from which the oil returns to a trough 11 connected with the reservoir 13 and the vapour passes off to the casing.
