Abstract
362,572. Winches. HAULOTTE, A., St-Jean de Maurienne, Savoie, France. Sept. 30, 1930, No. 29316. Convention date, Oct. 4, 1929. [Class 78 (v).] Each winding drum 8, 8a can be driven from the shaft 19 through either of the gear trains 18, 33 ; 18, 33, 34 by rotating the arm 35 to bring one of the gears 33, 34 into engagement with one of the gears 13, 13a and adjusting the position of the gears 33, 34 by sliding the shaft 27. The gear 18 is keyed to the shaft 19 which is journalled in the endplates 1, 2 of the framework and carries fast and loose pulleys 21, 20 respectively. The shaft 27 is mounted in brackets 28, 29 formed integral with a sleeve 26 which is rotatably mounted on the shaft 19. The arm 35 is attached to the sleeve and is provided with a positioning stud 36 co-operating with a sector 37 on which are marked five angular positions a .. e. Each drum has a brake pulley 9 co-operating with a brake band, one end of which is fixed and the other end of which is attached to a lever 10 pivoted at 11 and urged to the braking position by a spring 12 or counterweight. The gears 13, 13a have internal ratchet teeth 14, 14a which are engaged by pawls 15, 15a having operating handles 17, 17a. In a modification the sleeve 26 is journalled in the frame and the shaft 19 is mounted in the sleeve by means of eccentric supports and ball bearings. The shaft 19 carries a pinion which can be brought into engagement with either of the gears 13, 13a by rotating the sleeve 26.
