Abstract
254,447. Stocks, R., and Haworth, G. Feb. 1, 1926. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Mules.-In an arrangement for driving the tin roller at two speeds during the outward run, the rim band pulley A is loose on the tin roller shaft C and is mounted to slide on a sleeve carrying a bevel pinion F. The pulley A is formed as one part of a clutch and can be moved by a lever E to engage the other part B fixed on the shaft. When the clutch is open at the commencement of the outward run, the drive is transmitted from the pulley A through reducing gearing F, G, G<1>, H. The gears G, G<1> are mounted on the shaft and the gear H is held stationary by a pawl J engaging a ratchet wheel I on the boss of the gear. When the clutch is closed and the wheel I is freed, the drive is transmitted directly through the clutch. The lever E and the pawl J are operated by a sliding rod D controlled by a spring M, and carrying an inclined arm K to operate the pawl J. The rod D is locked by a catch which is released bv an incline on the headstock. The rod is returned by the inclined slide P engaging a bowl O on the bar.
