Abstract
362,550. Wind-shields for match boxes. MIEVILLE, H., 22, Cravenhill Gardens, and REECE, H. J., 553, Garratt Lane, Wandsworth, both in London, and HADDAN, P., Oakwood, Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire. Sept. 20, 1930, No. 28163. [Class 18.] In a three-sided wind-shield adapted to be attached to a drawer-and-shell match box by a hinged tongue 7 inserted between the drawer 8 and the shell 1, the two opposite sides 2, which normally grip the box, are of triangular shape connected by a rectangular wall 4 provided with a longitudinal slot 5 and, when turned outwards about the hinge 6, the shield forms with the side wall of the shell a wedge-shaped chamber only open at one end through which a cigarette &c. may be inserted to be lit by a match inserted through the slot 5 and struck on the side wall of the shell. The sides 2 may be embossed outwards to provide a larger chamber and may be provided with bosses 12 to increase the frictional grip of the sides on the box. The tongue 7 may project slightly through the box and engage a catch 11 on the wall 4 to hold the shield in the closed position.
