Abstract
359,418. Rotary pumps ; stuffing- boxes. MARTIN, MOULET, ET CIE, 51, Boulevard Emile Zola, Oullins, Rhone, France. July 12, 1930, No. 19910/31. Convention date, March 5,1930. [Classes 110 (ii) and 122 (v).] In a rotary or reciprocating pump for petrol &c. in which one of the walls 50 is movable by excess pressure against the action of a spring 51 to effect a byepass between the suction and discharge sides of the pump, the wall can be operated by a rod 56 for byepassing, priming, or auxiliary pumping. As shown, drum 24 on a shaft 24a, revolving in an eccentric chamber 23 is provided with vanes 25, 26 pressed apart by springs. The wall 50 is packed by a diaphragm 90 and is connected to the rod 56 by a ball-joint 49. The pump is provided with inlet and discharge valves, the movement of which is limited by stops, and the suction passage is provided with a filter. The stuffing-box of the spindle 24a is supplied with lubricant at a pressure greater than that of the petrol &c. pumped by means of a passage 40 and lantern ring 33. The packing is compressed by means of a nut 34 and spring 35. Rotation of the nut 34 and ring 33 is prevented by means of studs 36, 37 engaging slots. Specification 361,313 is referred to.
