Abstract
359,353. Moulding thermoplastic materials with metal &c. inserts. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Peterson, C. F. ; Hillview Park, Scotia, New York, U.S.A.) Feb. 23, 1931, No. 5640. Convention date, Feb. 26, 1930. [Class 87 (ii).] To mould thermoplastic materials such as artificial resin with metal or other inserts having a materially different degree of contraction, the inserts are wrapped with a number of layers of cotton yarn or like porous compressible and preferably flexible material before being imbedded in the resin. The Figure shows an insulator having metal inserts 13 around the knurled outer surface of which the material is wrapped. Other materials mentioned as suitable wrapping materials include indiarubber, cotton, silk, or woollen tape, and textile fibres.
