Abstract

359,255. Winding conical bobbins. SCHARER, (nee NUSSBAUMER), L. and SCHARER, K. J., (trading as SCH€RER-NUSSBAUMER & CO.), Erlenbach, Zurich, Switzerland. Nov. 20, 1930, No. 34880. Convention date, Nov. 26, 1929. [Class 120 (ii).] A machine for winding cop-shaped bobbins with crossed or parallel windings is provided with means to drive the bobbin spindle at a varying speed comprising an eccentric wheel which positively drives the spindle and reciprocates a slide to which it is directly coupled, the slide carrying a pair of spindle driving, helical gear wheels. The main shaft 3 driven by a friction wheel and a disc 2 carries a worm 4 engaging with a worm wheel 5 on a shaft 7, this shaft also carrying an eccentric wheel 8 and a cam wheel 20. Rollers 10, 11 attached to a slide 12 mounted on stationary guidebars 1211 ride on a projecting rim on the eccentric wheel, and a pinion 13 on the shaft of the roller 11 engages a toothed rim on the wheel, this shaft being mounted in the slide and carrying also a screw gear 14 which meshes with another screw gear 15 integral with a sleeve 17. A forked arm 12<1> of the slide engages in an annular groove on the sleeve and causes it to follow the reciprocations of the slide. The sleeve 17 slides on the spool spindle 16 and rotates it by means of pins 18 which pass through a member 19 secured on the spindle. The thread guide-bar 26 is reciprocated by the cam wheel 20 by means of a bell-crank lever 22 pivoted at 23 and a slide 25 which can slide at one end on a fixed bar 27 and to the other end of which the bar 26 is secured. A stud on the one arm of the lever 22 engages in a circumferential groove on the cam wheel, and the other arm of the lever is slotted and carries a block which can move in a slot in the slide 25. A feeler feed device and the thread guide are mounted on a screwed rod 28 on the bar 26. The shaft 3 is displaceable but a screw 6 in an annular groove in the worm 4 prevents the latter from shifting. The slide 12 may be connected to the eccentric wheel by a concentric lateral groove on the wheel instead of by a projecting rim. In the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) it is stated that cheeses may be wound on the machines. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
