Abstract
358,241. Bobbins; pirn tubes. TEXTILE PAPER TUBE CO., Ltd. and LOWRY, A. S., Oakwood Mills, Romiley, Cheshire. Sept. 18, 1930, No. 27838. [Class 120 (iii).] A paper pirn tube has a metal base 10 fitted thereon, an extension 7 of the base being incorporated with the tube so as to form an annular recess 13 between the lower edge of the tube and the metal base 10. The base may be formed by turning over the edge 10 on to a dishshaped member 11. The base may be secured by pointed extensions 8, which enter the material of the tube 9 and are retained in position by the layers of paper 12 ; alternatively, the tubular portion 7 of the metal base may be serrated and driven into the end of a finished tube.
