[Class 97 (ii).] A trough compass in which both ends of the needle may be viewed superimposed comprises a compass box A, a needle B, and a lifter C for the needle. D, D are two prisms fitted over the needle B, and E is the prism through which the ends of the needle are viewed. The prism E may have a lens front. F is a block of metal fastened to the sides of the trough to support the prisms D, D.
