Abstract
353,598. Opening means for cans &c. ERICSSON, G. L., 117, Sveavõgen, Stockholm. May 27, 1930, No. 16252. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1929. [Class 66.] A movable tongue h, Fig. 1, adapted, when forced downwardly by raising the handle c, to break open the weakened "tearing strip " of a sheet-metal can or box to start the tearing- out operation, is mounted in a bearing member g secured to upper or under surface of the strip. The tongue may be of divided form, as shown in Fig. 11, and Fig. 13 shows a claw-shaped tongue adapted, after breaking the strip, to penetrate the under surfaces of the freed end and the bearing member to establish a secure connection.
