Abstract
353,131. Welding chains. TAYLOR, H. G., The Leylands, Penn, near Wolverhampton. May 13, 1930, Nos. 14641 and 31470. [Class 83 (iv).] Welded joints.-The links of chains of the type provided with transverse studs are made by electrically welding the two end portions together through the medium of the stud. In Fig. 2, the stud B is of H-section and the two end portions A are welded to the ends thereof. In Fig. 3, the stud B is straight and the ends A are flared inwardly at a to provide a wider welding surface. In modifications, the stud may be formed integral with one end. Fig. 6 shows another method of making the link in which the stud is divided longitudinally into two parts b, b<1> each integral with one end. One of the parts is divided at b<2>to allow it to be threaded on the adjacent link. According to a further modification, the stud may be divided transversely, each part being formed integrally with one end of the link.
