Abstract
352,733. Wireless receiving apparatus. MAINS RADIO GRAMOPHONES, Ltd. and ROBERTS, E. H., 8, Vaughan Street, Bradford. July 9, 1930, No. 20746. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v).] A valve screen comprises a metal sleeve fitting round the valve envelope when the latter is in its holder, and has a spongy metal lining which conforms to the exterior of the valve envelope. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the screen is in two parts, the lower d being secured to the base and the upper e being secured to the lower by a bayonet - joint. Spongy metal filling g is retained between the flanges d<2>, e<2>. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the screen is in two semi-cylindrical portions A hinged at h<2> and having a catch h<5>. A lining of spongy metal g is secured to the screen at h<4>. In a further modification (Fig. 5, not shown) an incomplete cylinder, with a lining of spongy metal as in Fig. 4, is adapted to be sprung open to place round the valve, the resiliency of the metal retaining it in position.
