Abstract
352,250. Furnace grates. WADE, C. F., 2, Cambridge Arcade, Pinstone Street, Sheffield. July 9, 1930, No. 20752. [Class 51 (i).] In furnaces having a fire-grate curved or sloped downwards towards the centre, the firebars b, Fig. 1, rest at their inner ends upon a hollow bearer d to which air is supplied. The air passes from the bearer through a perforated cover g and through passages controlled by dampers h to beneath the bars b, the supply of air to the outer parts of the grate and to above the grate being controlled by the dampers e. The invention is also described as applied to a circular grate with a central tubular bearer provided with an air regulating shutter. The grate may be in the form of grids or separate bars having angular or curved grooves in their sides as shown in Fig. 4.
