351,158. Cold and heat retaining vessels. SOC. L'AIR LIQUIDE SOC. ANON. POUR L'ETUDE ET L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES G. CLAUDE, 48, Rue St. Lazare, Paris. April 29, 1930, No. 13225. Convention date, April 30, 1929. [Class 29.] A vessel for storing and transporting liquefied gases is formed with a jacket containing solid insulation lying in an atmosphere of gas automatically maintained between controllable limits. The liquid container 1 is suspended from the outer sheath by chains 4 and has a discharge pipe 5. A pipe 10 having a safety valve 6 and a metal foil disc 7 conveys a part of the evaporating gas to the space containing magnesium carbonate or other solid insulating material. The gas passes through a valve 11 so long as the pressure is not above say 5 cm. of water. If the liquid container is empty and the pressure in the jacket rises by heat influx over say 10 cm. of water, the gas is discharged through a valve 13. A disc 8 is attached to the outer sheath by a thin rubber membrane 9 and becomes loose under a determined excessive pressure. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the container 1 may be prevented from rising in the outer sheath by tierods &c. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
