351,051. Wireless transmitting systems. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, London, and LUNNON, F. C., Westdene, Roxwell Road, Chelmsford, Essex. March 20, 1930, No. 8988. [Class 40 (v).] Radio or like telegraphy transmitters comprising an oscillator and one or more amplifiers are keyed in such a wav that one or more valves which act as amplifiers during marking periods have their circuits changed so that they function to maintain a load on the H.T. supply during spacing periods. As shown the circuit comprises an oscillator valve O and three amplifiers V1, V2, V3, all fed from H.T. supply B. The grids are biased from tappings Po .. P3 on an impedance Z which is included in a common branch of the supply circuit B. Keying is effected by a switch K which shortcircuits the impedance Z during marking and therefore allows the grid bias to be operative only during spacing. In one method of operation, the oscillator O ceases to maintain its oscillation during spacing owing to the prohibitive bias applied by the tap Po. The amplifier valves V1, V2, V3 continue to take plate current from the source B to an extent dependent on the bias supplied by the taps P1, P2, P3 ; and these are preferably adjusted so that the load during spacing is about one-quarter of the marking load. As an alternative a prohibitive bias may be applied during spacing to one of the earlier amplifiers, and the plate current load maintained by the later amplifiers.
