Abstract
Luminous slabs, blocks, posts, bricks, &c., are made by shaping concrete, cement, plaster, clay &c., and, while the mass is still wet, applying a luminous composition to the surface. The mass is then allowed to harden. The articles may be used for kerbstones, traffic direction lines and indicators, steps, &c. The luminous composition may comprise an alkaline earth sulphide, zinc sulphide and mesothorium, or zinc sulphide and a radio active constituent such as a radium salt, e.g. a compound of radium and actinium, and may be applied as a wash with or without cement. A thin wash of cement may be applied over the luminous layer. The Provisional Specification also describes the incorporation of the luminous substance with the concrete or other plastic composition before shaping the articles, and also the use of a luminous composition as a paint for application to existing bodies of concrete &c., and for painting letters, signs, &c. on glass, signposts, &c.ALSO:Luminous slabs, blocks, posts, bricks, &c., are made by shaping concrete, cement, plaster, clay, &c., and, while the mass is still wet, applying a luminous composition to the surface.
