Abstract
346,865. Doors for passenger vehicles. WEYMANN'S MOTOR BODIES (1925), Ltd., 22, Austin Friars, London, and BLACK, W. R., Burndell, Couchmore Avenue, Esher, Surrey. Jan. 23, 1930,No.2452. [Class 103 (ii).] A flexible door for motor car bodies comprises a skeleton wooden framework, constituted by vertical and horizontal components interconnected by flexible joints 14, 16, 19, combined with a sheet-metal panel or covering 20. In one form, the panel 20 is secured to the framework by screws or the like, wood to metal contact being reduced to a minimum by rubber or soft material inserts 21. Between the usual metal strip door lapping 22, Fig. 3, and the vertical edge of the door a rubber insert 23 is interposed. Alternatively the panel 20, Fig. 4, may be bent around a metal strip 27 secured to the door upright 11. When a moulding 35, Fig. 5, is used a rubber insert 34 prevents metal to metal contact. In a modification, the joints between the top longitudinal and the door uprights may be rigid. In a further modification the panel may be rigid, in which case it is connected to the door frame by flexible joints.
