Abstract

346,356. Sets. POLLAK, J. E., 20, Holborn, London.-(Siemens & Halske Akt.- Ges.; Wernerwerk, Siemensstadt, Berlin.) Jan. 8, 1930, No. 757. [Class 40 (iv).] A telephone set has a casing of porcelain, glass or other ceramic material; according to another feature of the invention, the various components are mounted on a support separate from the outer casing and of considerably greater mechanical strength. The table set, Fig. 1, has the terracotta, stoneware or ceramic cover 1 apertured to accommodate the dial 2 and switch rod 3 of the cradle 4. The components are mounted on a frame 5 of extruded metal, or moulded insulating material, preferably of the same shape as the cover, or on a plate 8. A plate 6, Fig. 2, fixed to the support 5, carries the switch springs 7 controlled by a rod 3 fixed to the cradle 4. The cover 1 is attached to a metal strip 9 fixed to the support 5 so that the instrument is not affected by breakage of the outer cover 1. The associated hand set is preferably of the same material as the casing of the set.
