Desk and table sets.-A hand-combination telephone set 9 is supported upon a stand carrying a dial switch 3, in such a manner that it lies in an inclined position diametrically across the dial switch to prevent free operation of the latter until the hand-set is removed. The inclination of the hand-set moreover ensures that the plane of the microphone diaphragm is at an angle, preferably between 30‹ and 60‹, to the horizontal in order to prevent an open-circuited condition of the microphone. The receiver 8 and transmitter 11 are accommodated in recesses 5, 10 in the stand 1. The recess 5 contains a switch 7 adapted to be operated by the receiver; alternatively a switch may be actuated by the transmitter.
