[Class 7 (vi).] In an engine of the compression-ignition type having governor-actuated means for adjusting epicyclic valve gear for varying the period of opening of the fuel-injection valve, a hand-controlled stop is provided for limiting the action of the governor. The valve b is opened by a pair of cams e acting on a lever f and rotated by epicyclic gearing g, h adjustable for varying the duration of opening by link connections i .. l to the sleeve u of the governor p. The movement of the sleeve u is limited by a stop constituted by an adjustable hand-lever t.
