Abstract
343,704. Light - curreat relays. COVENTRY AUTOMATIC TELEPHONES, Ltd. and PUCKETTE, C. C., of General Electric Co., Stoke, Coventry. Jan. 22, 1930, No. 2223. [Class 38 (v).] The shouldered core 1 of a relay is secured to the L-shaped yoke 2 by a screwed sleeve 11 passing out through a clearance hole in a bar 5 to which the yoke is secured by screws 6, insulating material 8 separating the yoke and supporting bar. When the sleeve 11 is unscrewed by means of a screwdriver slot in its outer end a shoulder on the sleeve engages the plate 8 so that further unscrewing of the nut 11 forces the core away from the heel-piece and expels it from the yoke. Thus the removal of the core is facilitated while the relay remains in situ. Similarly in replacing the core and winding the shoulder on the screwed sleeve bears on the yoke-piece to force the core into position. In a modification the shoulder on the sleeve 11 may be trapped between the yoke-piece and a plate such as an insulating plate, which is secured to the yoke-piece and forms part of the relay structure.
