[Class 100 (iv).] Line-spacing mechanism; sheet-feeding arrangements.-In a condensed billing arrangement, the record sheet is line-spaced and the feed rollers are released to permit of the bill by operating an auxiliary line-spacing lever which is mounted coaxially with the feed-roller releasing lever. In the arrangement shown in the Figure a releasing lever 24 is pivoted on a stud 25 and has a sector 26 gearing with a sector 27 on a rock-shaft having flats engaging supporting arms for feed-rollers 7, 19. An auxiliary line-spacing lever 35 pivoted on the stud 25 has an arm 37 connected by a link 38 to a bell crank 31 mounted on the platen shaft 6 and carrying a pawl 32 which co-operates with a ratchet wheel 28 on the platen B, and an adjustable shield 281. The bill and the record sheet are held by the feed-rollers 7, 19, and the record sheet is held also by feed-rollers 49. A guide 48 for facilitating insertion of the record sheet is arranged in front of the apron 47. When the bill has been typed, the lever 35 is moved forwards and a pin 41 thereon rocks the lever 24, the feed-rollers 7, 19 being released to permit removal of the bill, and the platen being turned by the pawl 32 to line-space the record sheet. The spacing movement is greater than normal. On return of the lever 35, return of the lever 24 is initiated by co-operation of the pin 41 with a tooth 46 on a link 42 pivoted to the lever 24. The tooth and pin are normally disengaged, a slot 44 in the link co-operating with a stud 45 to move the tooth into the path of the pin when the lever 35 is moved forwards.
