Abstract
342,146. Laminated springs. TALBOT, F. J., Globe Steel Works, Sheffield. Feb. 1, 1930, No. 3505. [Class 108 (iii).] Nibs and depressions formed in the leaves to prevent relative sliding movements are arranged near the centre on each side of the central longitudinal and central transverse axes. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, each leaf is formed with two depressions b on its upper side and two nibs c on its under side, the nibs on the lowermost leaf engaging corresponding depressions in the lower clamping plate h. The buckle d passes underneath the lower clamping plate h and is secured by nuts to the upper clamping plate f. Independent holding-down bolts pass through holes i in the upper and lower clamping plates. In a modification the depressions are arranged underneath and the nibs on top of the leaves. In a further modification shown in Fig. 4 the nibs and depressions are arranged on the edges of the leaves. A spring constructed in this manner may be connected to the vehicle frame by rods n, Fig. 7, pivoted to the buckle d and to clips p which encircle the ends of the springs and are connected to the frame or to shackles by pins s.
